Instructor Training Award

The Scientific Boating Safety Association (SBSA) is committed to fostering safe and skilled scientific boaters through education, research, and the advancement of scientific boating standards, certifications, and operations.

Instructor Training Awards are intended to lower financial barriers for Members to attend a Motorboat Operator’s Instructor Training Course (MOITC) / Motorboat Operator’s Instructor Certification Course (MOICC) to qualify as an MOITC/MOICC Instructor.

SBSA offers up to two $500 training awards annually.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must be an Individual Member of SBSA or affiliated with an Organizational Member.
  2. Must require scientific boating as part of their career or education.
  3. Must be able to demonstrate the need to instruct MOTC/MOICC courses as part of their professional career.
  4. Must have successfully completed an MOTC/MOCC and be in current standing.
  5. Must submit a completed application that supports eligibility.

Application Periods:

There are two application deadlines each year: April 1st and September 1st. One recipient is selected per cycle.
