Training
SBSA Member Organizations offer many training courses and boating certifications throughout the year. Often times, these opportunities are not limited to staff/students at each organization (especially if your Boating Safety Officer assists with instruction of the course). To participate in boat safety training or to learn more about adding a safety training program to your institution, please contact the SBSA.
Motorboat Operator Training Course (MOTC)
The SBSA Motorboat Operator Training Course (MOTC) is entry-level training recommended for persons who will be acting as small vessel operator or crew for SBSA member institutions or other organizations. The MOTC provides fundamental training in boating knowledge and skills, however it is not a “certification course”. The home institution may require additional training in local knowledge, vessel characteristics, regional and local regulations, and agency policies, as necessary.
For more information, see our overview on the topics that are taught in the MOTC.
